WordNerd is a vocabulary learning mobile app built for Hebrew speakers learning English. It uses multilingual AI embeddings to give real feedback — not just right/wrong, but how close you actually were.

Why WordNerd?

Learning English is no joke - but it can be more fun. Most tech roles, ivy-league universities, high-profile management positions and many more require English fluency in today's global economy. Yet most evade the actual process of improving their language skills until necessary.

Our Vision

The WordNerd doesn't claim to make users fluent speakers or readers overnight, but to serve as the first step to becoming more comfortable with the language. The hard truth is, there is no easy way to learn English from scratch. Nonetheless, actual improvement doesn't follow drastic changes or acquiring costly online courses, but derives from daily steps in the right direction.

WordNerd was developed for this purpose exactly - replacement of intensive studying with a short, daily, interactive practice.

How We Differ

For those of you that have already started learning with vocabulary-learning apps, you must have noticed that most exercises offer binary feedback, i.e. Correct/Incorrect. Although most words do have unambivalent meaning – there is some wiggle-room. For instance, if you were tested on the meaning of the word "match" and thought it meant "competition", you would receive negative feedback, even though you're not wrong.

Here is where the WordNerd shines — non-binary feedback is given mid-test. Filling in "competition" when asked about the semantics of "match" might reward you with a near-perfect score on a scale from 0 to 100. That way, synonyms and semi-identical terms are treated as right answers, allowing the user to receive more informative, non-discrete feedback without compromising correctness.

Additionally, the app's quizzing platform is interactive relative to other tools. Instead of passive scrolling or clicking an answer in a multiple-choice question, the WordNerd requires the user to type in the answer – making it more engaging.

3-Day Cycles

Each word goes through daily quizzes over 3 days. Once you've scored high enough across all three, it's gone from your queue.

Non-Binary Feedback

Your translation gets embedded with a multilingual transformer and compared to the target word. The score reflects how close you actually were — not just right or wrong.

Leveled Word Lists

Words are split into Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced. You pick how many batches per day — fits a 5-minute session or a longer one.

Skip Words You Know

Before each cycle starts, you can tap out the words you already know. No time wasted on things you've already got down.
